Baby cupcakes

Love this Mama Elephant Carnival Cupcakes stamp set, the images are A-DORable!  I have a friend with a baby on the way and this set makes it easy to create a perfect Congrats card.

I’ve coloured the animals with Distress inks on Langton watercolour paper and had a complete ball doing it – those inks are a joy to colour with.  My frame is the Mama Elephant Femme Frames scallop edge die using the stitched frame die to create the frame.  I’ll be posting the card so I made a co-ordinating envelope with a couple of little friends on the front too.

I’d like to enter this into a few challenges as i’m rather chuffed with it 🙂

Thanks for looking.

Ouch

I spend lots and lots of time marvelling over how creative folk can be with just a couple of stamp images.  Every time a buy a new stamp I search to see what clever ideas and variations on use have been published and it never ceases to amaze me how many different results can be made.

Searching has also taught me a gazillion different techniques, I sponge up ideas and watch videos on ‘how to’ more than I have hot dinners (which is A LOT I can tell you). The Lawn Fawn mini stamp sets are such a good example of what I mean.  The Get Well Soon set has three stamps, a couple of additional elements and a sentiment but i’ve seen so many different variations on how to use it it’s unbelievable!  And also incredibly inspiring.  Here’s my take on them:

Balloons

MFT are one of my 3 most favourite stamp & die brands in the universe and when ‘Up In the Air’ was released I HAD to have it as soon as soon as humanly possible.  I mean, who is not bowled over by those cute critters peeking over the edge of the balloon – tooo sweet!

IMG_0057This week’s Simon Says Stamp challenge and a little extra time due to a Bank Holiday day here spurred me on to take the plunge and make a card with it.

I embossed a piece of blue card with a cloud folder and cut some spotty hills for the balloons to fly over.  I couldn’t afford to get the dies (oh my they’re expensive for this stamp set!) so fussy cut the elements out.  The stitched frame has been clear embossed to add a little gloss.  The images have been coloured with copics and I added some white accents to the big ballon, flags and ted and ellie.

IMG_0056.JPGI’ve been inspired to enter the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp – Monday Challenge: The Great Outdoors
Creatalicious Challenge –  Anything Goes
Stamping Sensation – Anything Goes

It would have been cool to see some cute faces like these looking down at me when the balloons went over on the recent balloon race.  Although maybe that would have been a bit scary to have a bear and an elephant staring down at me…..yes, second thoughts…..

Titchy Tags

Today I have been mostly….making Easter tags! Yes I know it’s today but luckily they aren’t needed until much later in the day’s proceedings.  Wanted to make some little personalised tags to go with the choccies I’d got for my nieces and nephew.

Blimey they took FOREVER to do 😩 Laura Bassen makes ink blending look soooo easy and all I seem to do is get into an extraordinary mess.

Stamped the little party chicks from Mama Elephant Party Animals set and a balloon from the MFT Somebunny set.  The tag, little hearts and tiny bow are all from the Mama Elephant basic die set.

After masking the chicks off I blended lines of distress ink across Bristol smooth card, and that’s where I got super inked up 😊 Was huge fun though, despite the fact I should have been studying for an exam instead of playing.

I coloured some card and added glitter so the hearts are a glittery window.

They’re so darn cute! Finished off by glossing up the balloons in lashings of glossy accents.
Thanks for looking and I wish you and yours a peaceful and blessed Easter.

Three Amigos

Mama Elephant: Three Amigos is such a versatile set.  The critters are great and easy to colour and there’s a huge range of words and sentiments you can put on their cards.

IMG_0050I’ve coloured this with distress reinkers again and am enjoying learning how to use them.  Mama Elephant Femme Frames dies have been used to create the stitched border and i’ve mounted the scallop edge on some foam to make a raised frame.

IMG_0051Wondered if it was too plain, but didn’t want to overwork it.

Furiends

Couldn’t wait to get hold of the MFT Friends Furever stamp set, love love love that teddy!  Really great sentiments in this set too.  Ordered from Clair & Sharni Matthews’ new shop Get Crafty and highly recommend them, their prices are competitive and delivery was very quick.

I’ve blended some distress ink on a piece of Langton watercolour card, masking off ted and woofer with some Schmincke masking fluid which worked an absolute treat.  I’d treated myself to some distress ink reinkers and this is my first foray into colouring with the more intense colour of the pure ink.  L-O-V-E-D it, just as I knew I would!  I’m a huge fan of Annette’s colouring with them and also Becky’s gorgeous creations and have been avidly studying their cards for eternity, finally I took the plunge and bought some.  As it’s on watercolour paper, there’s an added benefit of stealing some of the paper’s texture to help create a wooly looking teddy.  He looks almost as if he’s made from chenille on the real card.

Inky Flowers

I’ve recently branched into ink pads of different types and makes and am really enjoying using them.  Whilst I don’t have many (yet), i’ve been twiddling and fiddling around stamping this that and the other with them and learning how they react to different stamp types and paper types.

I bought the little floral Clearly Besotted silhouette set Heartfelt Thanks and hadn’t had much luck with the distress inks, so bought a couple of super de-duper cheap Versacolor cubes just to have a play.  And what fun it was!

IMG_0047Close up it doesn’t look much, but it was such a lot of fun playing with the pads that I now want every single ink pad ever made in the world.

I’ve entered this into the Crafty Sentiments Flowers challenge for some fun.

A foray into watercolouring & a balloon race!

I’ve been desperate to try my hand at a little watercolouring for a long time now. My mum loved to paint and I wanted to put her stash of watercolours to use.  Having watched a gazillion of Debby Hughes’ videos over at Lime Doodle Design (literally swoon at her colouring) and Kristina Werner’s on her design blog (more swooning) I felt adequately video’d up to make an attempt.  I’ve made an envelope to use with my Bunny Birthday card, using the same stamp set.

As a first attempt I’m really pleased with it! The background has been blended with Distress Inks and the trees, bunny and flowers watercoloured. Oh my, that little project taught me a lot! I’ve got the bug though……more to come methinks 💕

We woke up to rather an amazing sight this morning – 80 odd air balloons passing by the house kind of amazing.  Enthusiasts were attempting to break the record for the most number of hot air balloons crossing the English channel at the same time.  It was a pretty special thing to see and I got lots of pictures while they gracefully bobbed by.

If every day started with a scene like this I think i’d be very happy indeed!

Have a great day.

Birthday Bunny

img_0343Have been trying my hand at shaker cards and am really pleased with how this turned out. Bunny is from MFT Somebunny set coloured with copics.  I’ve used the MFT Happy Birthday To You die to create the shaker window – really love this die, can make a card so quickly using it.  There are lots of lovely sequins inside making it sparkle against a blended distress ink background.  Cut out using the stitched frame from Mama Elephant Basic Die set.

Have also tried my hand at making a photo tent to take better pictures.  Being tight and not wanting to spend loads of money on it (money is for craft supplies right??!) I only bought the smallest sheets of foam board.  Should have gone for the bigger size as it’s turned out a little on the small side, so it’s teeny cards only for the time being!

For a bit of fun i’ve entered into a few card challenges, which isn’t something i’ve had chance to do before.  Enjoyed looking at the inspiring makes from others in the following challenges, and have entered my bunny card:

Swanky New Beginnings

So Blogger was causing me a whole host of problems….WordPress it is then.  Here’s the old fluffy blogger site, which pretty much started giving me grief from the word go.  I mostly use a blog as a one stop shop to all my favourite bloggers and not to showcase my own work, primarily because I get so little crafting actually completed, but there will be the occasional picture of stuff wot I done if only to record it for all eternity.  So to kick it off, here’s a pin cushion I made for a special lady’s birthday using a gorgeous Lorna Bateman embroidery kit.
